This article comprises a checklist that a student should follow to plan an organised admission seeking process. Find the important points to be taken care of below.

Important Factors for DU Admissions 2022

Go through the following list to understand which points you have to keep in mind during the admission process of Delhi University.

Area of Interest

Understand your area of interest in which you want to pursue your graduation depending upon your stream.

For example, a student with a commerce background can look for economics, language specialization, general courses, etc. On the other hand, a student with a science background can go for courses in specializations depending upon their future plans which may be focused on the teaching field, research work, or master's degree in science.

Research

Before applying to any college, do thorough research on different colleges and courses offered by them.

During college research, a student can look for the following points:

  • College reputation
  • Placement offers
  • Average placement packages
  • Sports facilities
  • Extra-Curricular activities
  • Educational conferences and seminars
  • Infrastructure
  • Faculty members
  • Personal development and growth opportunities

The colleges under Delhi University offer various courses under different streams of Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.

For example, a science student can go for traditional B.Sc. courses like B.Sc. (PCM/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Maths/ Botany) or professional B.Sc. courses like B.Sc. (Agriculture/ Electronics/ Animation/ Food Technology/ Psychology/ Nutrition etc.)

Apply on Time

Application forms are available online. A centralised form is available for almost all the colleges. However few colleges have their individual form which needs to be filled on the individual college website. The application forms of Jesus & Mary College (JMC) and St. Stephen's College have to be filled on the college website individually. Closing dates should be given considerable attention. Back-up Plan

It is good to aspire for heights but at the same time a student must keep a backup plan in case reality does not match expectations. Apply for as many colleges and additional courses as you can.

Centralised forms provide ease of application in today's time. A student can apply to all major colleges on these forms so that he/she does not have to face any regret after the cut off lists are out. With cut-throat competition prevalent, it cannot be predicted as to what the accurate cut-off will be like. Hence, it is a safe option for students to pick as many colleges as possible.

Be Proactive

Be on your toes during the release of cut off lists. Changing the colleges due to new cut off lists can be a task as you will then need to withdraw your admission from the previously chosen college and then register for a new one.

Preference

A student can prioritize between the choice to choose a college or the course. Sometimes one can get the preferred course but not the best college that you aim for. In that case, in my opinion, one should go for the course because that will add value to your knowledge in the long run.

However, if the student is indifferent towards the courses, he may pick any college that suits his/her other requirements such as placements, faculty, clubs, and committees.

Applying to colleges and choosing a suitable college is a process containing a series of steps. A student should plan his/her admission process with utmost care. It proves to be an advantage if the student is aware of his requirements beforehand.

Lakhs of students apply to get admission to DU every year. However, the university has only a limited number of seats which means that only a small part of the total applicant eventually ends up pursuing their higher education in the reputed university. Usually, students who do not get selected are disheartened by the cut-throat competition and high cut off scores of DU. You must not be disappointed and start looking for other options without wasting time. There are many private colleges that offer top-notch academia and some of the best facilities to its students.

Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) and find the most suitable college for yourself. An admissions expert will talk to you and after understanding your requirements, he/ she will provide you with several options of colleges to choose from. There are many leading institutes that are performing brilliantly and are also getting featured on various reputed rankings. Pursuing your bachelor's degree from such a college will not only impart you with quality education but will also give you good exposure.

Yes, LPU offers admission to several programs even without LPUNEST by accepting valid scores from exams such as JEE, CAT, MAT, and others. However, taking LPUNEST provides added advantages, including scholarship opportunities and priority in the admission process. While LPUNEST is not compulsory for every course, it is highly beneficial for students seeking better affordability and enhanced chances of selection.
