Along with Quantitative Aptitude and VARC, DILR is one of the three core sections in the CAT exam. As per the students DILR is considered to be quite challenging however scoring as well. Recent changes in the CAT exam format, now DILR comprises 22 questions which are divided into 4 sets consisting of 5 questions each. In order to successfully attempt questions from this topic you can follow a very simple rule of answering the ones which are easier and leaving out those which are challenging and time taking. DILR Solving Tips

You can go through the following tips to solve questions correctly without wasting much time.

Have a quick overview of the DILR section through all the sets and select 2 to 3 sets that are easily doable
When you make your selection of the sets, ensure that you solve all of them correctly
If you are stuck in one question, leave it out and concentrate on the one that can be done. Its better to leave than to be occupied with one question
If possible try using table, graphs, charts and grids to solve the questions
During your preparation phase have a good grip on concepts like venn diagram, ratio and proportion, binary logic, Spider Model etc. You can take note that, the more your basics are clear the chances of solving DILR questions are better
If you have a set which is lengthy, completely avoid that question. It has been observed in most cases that students who have tried solving lengthy sets have made mistakes or have taken a lot of time.
Take note that questions related to maximisation and minimisation do not have an unique answer
