What are Mock Tests?

Mock tests are essentially practice papers that are produced only on the updated exam pattern and curriculum of the specific examination. These are simulations of genuine tests that hopefuls may use to judge their true potential. The GATE 2023 aspirants may take online mock exams to prepare their brains and body for the actual examination. Mock examinations are the ideal technique to achieve confidence and time management, which are required to pass the GATE exam. Solving the GATE 2023 free mock test papers will help the aspirants better understand their weak and strong points. It also plays a major role in cultivating a strong optimistic attitude regarding the exam.

Importance of GATE Mock Test During Exam Preparation

Listed in this section are some advantages and benefits of solving the free GATE mock test papers during the preparatory stages of the exam -

Familiarize with the real exam atmosphere

The GATE mock tests simulate the actual test and the unfamiliarity with the real exam atmosphere is eradicated with it. When the candidates become well-acquainted with the exam atmosphere, their confidence also gets a kickstart. Also by solving at least one mock test leading up to the GATE exam date, the candidates revise the entire GATE 2023 syllabus quite easily

Memorizing important topics

By memorizing, we do not mean memorizing the topics and formulas line by line but, memorizing which topics and lessons are given maximum weightage. The entire syllabus for the GATE exam is pretty huge and during the final phase of preparation, it is indeed very important to “ memorize ” which topics are more important than the other so that maximum time can be devoted to those topics

Identifying the strengths and weaknesses

During the GATE preparatory stages, it is important to identify the strengths and weaknesses. One of the most effective ways of identifying the strengths and weaknesses is to solve mock test papers. It can become tough to crack the GATE exam if the candidates do not identify their weaknesses and concentrate on them. Only by identifying the strengths and weaknesses, the candidates can be competitive in the upcoming GATE exam

Familiarize with the virtual calculator

The GATE examinees are not allowed to carry physical calculators with them to their respective exam centres. The GATE officials provide the test-takers with virtual calculators. The candidates can only familiarize themselves with the use of virtual calculators by attempting mock tests. Getting used to the GATE virtual calculators before the exam saves a lot of time on the D-Day

If you are a Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) graduate appearing for GATE in Electronics and Communication (EC) paper, you may face challenges in PSU hiring, since there are specific eligibility for the qualifying degree branch. For example, PSUs like NTPC, BHEL, Power Grid, and NPCIL only accept graduates in BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). Graduates in ECS may qualify for CS/IT-focused PSUs through CS paper instead. However, recruitment to certain PSUs like ONGC, IOCL will be done through GATE 2026 only.
