Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is regarded as India's greatest engineer who had brought in many revolutions. He was the most qualified civil engineer and economist that India has produced. He was also responsible to contribute towards the construction of dams in the country while harnessing water resources.

As an ethical responsibility, it is needless to say, that residential and commercial buildings should be designed in such a way that the structure is well suited for efficient and sustainable use of water, air, light etc.

Average starting salary: Rs. 2.8 - 3.2 lakhs per annum

3. Naval Architect

The designing, development, repair of watercrafts and other structures like oil drilling platforms, hydrofills etc. is typically the work of a Naval Architect. They ensure that their designs are stable and apt for water.

Average starting salary: Rs. 4.2 - 4.5 lakhs per annum

4. Landscape Architect

Open spaces are plenty in any city. Landscape architects add aesthetic value to these spaces to make the best use of them. These spaces include industrial, institutional as well as the residential ones. They plan the site, design and further work keeping in mind historic preservation and inclusion of parks, gardens and other recreational areas.

Average starting salary: Rs. 3.6 - 4 lakhs per annum

5. Airport Designer

With the tourism industry growing at a rapid rate, more and more world class airports are being designed all over that offer best infrastructure and facilities to ease movement of people in an efficient manner. Airport Designers do some ground research of the site, design and develop a plan and further supervise construction and renovation activities for the maintenance of airports.

Average starting salary: Rs. 3.5 - 3.8 lakhs per annum
