IRMA was initially developed to bring reforms in the Indian dairy industry and to introduce professional management so that the operations and revenue models of the industry could be enhanced.

The institute has been known to provide quality management training and research facilities to students who aspire to study management in the field of rural development. Over the years, it has been known to successfully collaborate with several cooperatives, government development agencies, non-government organizations, funding agencies and international development organizations to provide diverse opportunities to students.

Courses Offered at IRMA

IRMA offers the following programmes:

  • Post-Graduate Programme in Rural Management (PRM)
  • Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM)

Selection Process at IRMA

IRMA accepts the score of CAT and XAT entrance exams. Foreign nationals who want to take admission will have to apply either through GMAT or GRE scores. Apart from that the institute also conducts its own test called the Issue of Social Concern (ISC) Exam and it is compulsory for all candidates to appear for ISC Exam in order to take admission in IRMA. Selection is done in two phases. Understand the selection process below:

Programme Phase 1 Phase 2
PRM Candidates are evaluated on the basis of CAT / XAT scores and ISC Exam scores (Foreign Nationals are shortlisted on the basis of their GMAT / GRE Scores). Students who qualify the Phase 1 will be called for Group Activity and Personal Interview. Final selection is done on the basis of collective performance in both the phases.
FPRM Students have to clear the minimum cutoff set by the institute. Students in phase 1 are selected based on their score in CAT / XAT and the strength of their application. In the second phase, the candidates are selected on the basis of their score in ISC Exam, Essay (Quality and Presentation) and Personal Interview.

Students from every category have go through all the phases in order to take admission in the PRM programme offered by IRMA. No student will be exempted from either of the phases. However, for FPRM programme, candidates with PGDRM qualification from IRMA and those with a valid score in UGC JRF in relevant disciplines such as commerce, economics, management, psychology, social work and sociology are eligible for direct interviews.

The final selection is done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in both the phases and past academic record.

Dear Kamaldas ,LPU offers scholarships for the PhD in Management mainly based on performance in the LPUNEST (PhD) entrance test. Higher scores receive higher scholarship categories, which can significantly reduce the program fee. Candidates with NET, JRF, GATE or equivalent national-level qualifications receive even larger scholarships and fee relaxations. LPU also provides its own Research Fellowship, which offers a monthly stipend to selected full-time scholars based on merit and research potential. For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, LPU provides a relaxation in eligibility criteria, making it easier to qualify for admission. The scholarship is merit-based, not caste-based.
