The challenging Physics section in NEET 2025 exam will definitely affect the cutoff this year. However, it will not be the only factor that will impact the NEET cutoff 2025. Find more here!

Will NEET 2025 Cutoff Go High Due to Challenging Physics Section?

The NEET 2025 Cutoff is definitely expected to be affected by the challenging Physics section of the NEET 2025 Exam . However, it will not be the only factor. If there are multiple toppers like NEET 2024, the cutoff is expected to increase this year too. But if the total number of top performers is less, the cutoff is likely to drop. Although the exam difficulty level majorly impacts the NEET 2025 Cutoff , it may or may not be the sole determining factor for a decrease in the cutoff.

According to the students’ reactions, the overall NEET 2025 exam was Moderate to Difficult, with the Physics section being the toughest of all. Although the Physics questions were entirely from NCERT but the application-based questions and numericals were time-consuming and lengthy. The question stands: Will NEET 2025 Cutoff Go High Due to Challenging Physics Section? The answer is not so simple. Scroll down to understand the impact of Physics section on NEET 2025 Cutoff.

NEET 2025 Physics Difficulty Level

A detailed difficulty level of the NEET 2025 Physics section is provided below:

  • The NEET 2025 Physics difficulty level was recorded to be Moderate to Difficult.

  • The question paper featured several lengthy formula-based MCQs that made the section time-consuming.

  • A total of 45 questions appeared in the Physics section, out of which 15 questions were based on Mechanics, 13 from Electrodynamics, 6 from Modern Physics and Electronics, 4 each from Thermal Physics and Optics, 3 from SHM Waves, and 1 from experimental skills.

  • Most of the questions required a strong conceptual understanding and quick analytical thinking.

  • The difficulty level of the Physics section differs from one student’s perspective to the other, but overall, the Physics section has been reported as the toughest this year.

Can NEET 2025 Physics Alone Increase the Cutoff?

Some students are of the opinion that the cutoff this year will decrease due to the NEET 2025 Physics section difficulty level. However, a few experts have contradicted the same by stating that the complex nature of the NEET Physics section was well-balanced by the Easy-to-Moderate level Chemistry and Biology sections in the NEET exam paper.
Even with a challenging NEET 2025 Physics section, these important factors may come into play while determining the final NEET 2025 cutoff:

  • The NEET Cutoff will be affected only if a significant number of exam participants find the Physics section tougher, and it affects their overall exam performance. If most of the candidates get a good score in NEET 2025 , the cutoff will rise. Whereas, if the majority of the students get an average score in the exam, the cutoff will decrease.

  • According to the students' feedback and reactions, the NEET 2025 exam was tougher than the NEET 2024. So, the cutoff is likely to be lower than the previous year.

  • As reported, NEET 2025 was difficult than last year, and no paper leak news came to the horizon. This indicates that the number of high scorers is likely to be similar to 2023 and 2022. NEET 2023 had 2 toppers with 720 marks, while in NEET 2022, no one got the perfect score. A total of 4 students secured 715 marks in NEET 2022, which was the highest score that year.

  • The Chemistry and Biology sections of NEET 2025 were relatively easier. If the difficult NEET 2025 Physics section balances the overall student performance, it will eliminate the chances of an overall decrease in cutoff based on just one part of the question paper.

  • Another important factor that will affect the NEET 2025 Cutoff is the increase in the number of seats available in the participating colleges. The total number of MBBS seats in India has now reached an impressive 1,18,190. Seats in BDS and other UG Paramedical and Nursing courses have increased too which may affect the cutoff.

To conclude, the NEET 2025 Physics section was difficult according to the NEET 2025 Paper Analysis , but it is not the only factor that will affect the NEET 2025 cutoff. There were 61 toppers in NEET 2024, and the number is expected to significantly drop in 2025, indicating the NEET 2025 Cutoff will likely decrease.
