CLAT First Allotment List 2026: Instructions to Access Freeze and Float options
If you are allotted a seat at any NLU, you can choose one of the following options during the counselling round: Freeze, Float, or Exit, as per the rules mentioned below.
Freeze Option
- Choose Freeze if you are satisfied with the allotted NLU and do not wish to participate in further counselling rounds.
- You must pay the non-refundable Confirmation Fee within the stipulated deadline.
- Once frozen, you will not be considered for subsequent rounds.
- If you freeze your seat in the First, Second, or Third round, the remaining university fee must be paid by April 24, 2026.
- If you freeze in the Fourth or Fifth round, the remaining fee deadline is May 30, 2026.
Float Option
- Select Float if you want to keep your current seat but remain open to a higher-preference NLU.
- Payment of the Confirmation Fee is mandatory to activate this option.
- If upgraded in later rounds, you will automatically move to the higher-preference NLU and cannot revert to the earlier one.
- The Float option is available only up to the Fourth round.
- In the Fifth and final round, you must either Freeze or Exit.
Note:
If you are allotted your highest preferred NLU, you can only choose to Freeze or Exit; floating downward is not permitted.
