Expert Insights on JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Physics Last Minute Preparation

Here are the insights shared on JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Physics last-minute preparation by our subject expert:

CollegeDekho: What are the most important Physics chapters to revise to secure 50+ marks in JEE Main 2026 Session 1?

Shailaja : To secure 50+ marks, students should prioritize Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Semiconductors, and Units and Dimensions. Most questions are expected from these chapters, covering around 60% of the paper, based on previous years' trends. Revising these chapters before the exam can be a good strategy.

CollegeDekho : How much weightage does Experimental Physics and Error Analysis have in the 2026 NTA pattern?

Shailaja : In the 2026 NTA pattern, Section B (Numerical Value Questions) heavily features Experimental Physics, which now carries a significant 20% weightage. Topics like Vernier Callipers, Screw Gauge, and Metre Bridge are essential. Error Analysis remains a guaranteed 4-mark area, often appearing in the very first few questions of the paper.

CollegeDekho : JEE Main Physics Chapter-Wise Weightage Comparison: How does 2026 Session 1 differ from 2025?

Shailaja : The 2026 weightage remains largely consistent with 2025, with Mechanics (35%) and Electromagnetism (27%) having the most weightage. However, 2026 shows a slight increase in Experimental Physics questions in Section B. Modern Physics remains the highest-scoring single unit (15-17%), while the exclusion of several sub-topics has made Thermodynamics more focused on the First Law.

CollegeDekho : Is Potentiometer and Carnot Engine removed from JEE Main 2026?

Shailaja : Potentiometer is actually removed from the JEE Main 2026 syllabus, so candidates can skip it. The deleted topics also include Carnot Engine, Communication Systems, Radioactivity, and Transistors.

CollegeDekho : Any last-minute messages you would like to convey to the aspirants?

Shailaja : Students should try to revise the syllabus as much as possible and solve the previous year's questions. Candidates must study the chapters that are of high weightage and then go for the low weightage ones, so that they can complete the revision of the major topics at least, if they have a time crunch.
