Event-wise details and important dates related to NIMCET 2026 are provided below.
NIT Jamshedpur will release the NIMCET application form 2026 tentatively in April 2026. Candidates have to first register themselves and then proceed to fill the application form. The deadline to submit the application form would be May 2026.
The authorities will be release the NIMCET admit card 2026 in June 2026. Registered candidates will be able to download the NIMCET 2026 admit card online from the official website. Candidates need to first login using their credentials to download their respective admit card of NIMCET 2026.
The authorities will release the NIMCET answer key 2026 along with the response sheet, will be made available online for raising objections in June 2026. First the preliminary answer key is released which is subject to objections. On the basis of the objections the authorities finally release the final answer key.
The authorities will announce the NIMCET result 2026 in June 2026. The results will be available and can be downloaded in online mode. the NIMCET results by using the NIMCET result portal and logging in using their user ID and password. Shortlisted candidates will be eligible to participate in the NIMCET 2026 counselling.
NIMCET online registration and choice filling for NIMCET counselling 2026 will commence by the end of June 2026. The NIMCET (National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test) exam is entirely MCQ-based. The NIMCET exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions with four options each. The NIMCET exam is a computer-based test, and candidates must select the correct answer from the list of provided options.
The minimum NIMCET cutoff 2026 for the general category candidates is generally considered to be around 350-360 marks out of 1000. This score is often considered to be sufficient for securing admission into NIT Agartala, which is the least preferable NIT for MCA. However, the score can vary depending on the difficulty of the NIMCET exam and the overall performance of candidates.
NIMCET marking scheme is based upon marks secured in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and English which will be multiplied by 3, 1.5, 2, and 1 accordingly. The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, offers a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course under its constituent schools. The duration of this full time postgraduate course is two years. Admission into NIT Calicut MCA is entrance exam-based.
Though not necessarily "easy" to qualify, the NIMCET examination, which is conducted for providing admission into MCA programs at NITs, is considered moderate to difficult, requiring a well-thought-out study plan and clear understanding of the subjects.
A number of National Institutes of Technology (NITS) participate in the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET), which is a national-level entrance exam conducted for providing admission into their MCA programmes. Some of the NIMCET participating NITs are NIT Agartala, NIT Allahabad, NITBhopal, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Patna, NIT Raipur, NITTiruchirappalli, and NIT Warangal. Additionally, IIIT Bhopal and IIIT Vadodara also participate in the NIMCET 2025 exam.
